J-Pros consist of two filipino MC's (Mercury & R'Senull) and DJ Razs. Both rappers have been rapping since they were 13 years old. They were put together by J8 Records CEO Joel Mallari in the summer of 2004. Before they met, Mercury & R'Senull were working on their own solo projects in Joel's studio. Joel decided to introduce the two and experiment how they would sound together as a group. After recording one mixtape track, a special bond was established.
After months of recording, promoting, and performing locally, J-Pros released their debut album "Self-Titled" in 2006, which was available in local record stores in Seattle and on the internet. Unfortunately weeks after "Self-Titled" was released, Mercury moved to Kansas City to get a degree in a different career field. Since then, the two rappers would still record a track or two with each visit Mercury made to Seattle. After years of recording little by little, a new album was complete. When Mercury moved back to Seattle, J-Pros decided to release the album and title it "Pacific Central", since it was written in two different time zones.
In December 2011, J-Pros released their first EP titled "Level Up". After having more experience in every aspect of their music, J-Pros felt a step higher with their music, compared to their last album. This is what lead J-Pros to title the album "Level Up".
With words rhythms and a beat, J-Pros shares their life lessons, ethics, and thoughts with their audience. Listeners can't help but relate to the topics discussed in their music. Each rappers has their own distinct voice and style. Their music will take listeners back to the hip hop sounds of the mid 90's. J-Pros excels at balancing smart lyrics with good beats to create amazing music.
With both members working heavy hours in the medical field, they still find time to record music for the people. J-Pros puts their music after their work, life, & family. They believe their talent is a blessing on top of what they already have, which is one of the many reasons they make their music available free to the public.
